ORANGE WINE/ SKIN CONTACT
Movia’s ribolla has an inviting golden to amber color, which speaks of longer skin contact. Nose is amazingly rich for Ribolla, with gooseberries and blackcurrants dominating over gentle piny and fine oaky notes. Very dry, medium bodied with a salty savory character and lot’s of life.
Tangy orange wine carefully crafted and produced in tiny quantities. It stays in contact with the pinkish skins of Torontel for 8 months, thus its orange hue. It is made from heritage vines of almost 80 years old located in Loncomilla, a remote sub-region of the Maule Valley in Chile.
his vineyard has been farmed organically with minimal intervention since 2009. Vines are mostly dry farmed bush vines. All grapes were hand picked in the early morning during cooler weather, placed into lug boxes (smaller quantities mean reduced compaction and damage to the fruit) and then moved to cellar. A deep golden orange color, with complex aromas of exotic fruits, apricot, honey and quince. The palate has structure but also plenty of freshness and minerality, making it serious but also incredibly drinkable.
5 and a half days of skin contact, natural fermentation at about 18 degrees Celsius in stainless steel tanks leaves the wine tasting fresh, but with the added benefit of chalky, limestone-like tannins that radiate sunshine on your palate. This is one of our more exciting entry-level whites because it gives us the opportunity to showcase the beauty of Dalmatian whites from Croatia with skin-contact, all at an entry-level price point. Delightful golden color that pops in the glass, and charming complexity that lingers on the palate. Great with shellfish and fattier fish, but it goes surprisingly well with grilled or roasted pork or veal, as well.
A medium orange-red color. Red fruits on the nose, well matured, tertiary, yet still plenty of freshness. Dry, very homogeneous on the palate, the base wine was probably partly matured in fresh wood as there are gentle herbal notes present. A very complex, long-lasting, excellent sparkling wine.
A white wine produced from Grachetto, Malvasia , Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Garganega, in approximately equal proportions, planted in the “Pagliaro” vineyard, a site with alternating layers of gravel and clay at 1300 feet above sea level with both east and southwest facing parcels. After crushing, the juice spends at least two weeks macerating on its lees; sulfur is never added. Fermentation occurs in small stainless steel vats at low temperatures. Two rackings are done early in the fermentation process to remove the heavy deposits and a third is done after three weeks. This wine is then left on the fine lees in stainless steel for one year before being bottled.
Movia’s sauvignon shows medium deep golden color. Nose is rather discrete for Sauvignon Blanc, but beautifully floral complex and mature. This one is more of a cool guy that takes it easy, waits a bit not showing everything in first go. Dry, with touch of sweetness, with ripe and vibrant acidities and oily texture. The character on the palate is persistent, diverse, offering honey, gentle oak and floral notes.
The wine attains a deep amber hue due to the extended skin contact. The bouquet is quite fresh with notes of apricot and persimmon with chamomile and even a bit of turmeric on the nose. The palate is rich and broad with some exceptional mouthfeel due to skin contact.

The vines are planted in heavy clay soils of the Altenberg (Gols) vineyard, are hand harvested in September and undergo intensive sorting. Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts under temperature control and then aged in barrique for 8 months.
For the Gruner Veltliner 95% whole berries were used and 5% bunches and then fermented for ten days in open vats, while the Muscat Ottonel and Traminer underwent the same process but with reduced time on the skins. The Chardonnay is immediately pressed to maintain a crisp texture and freshness with mineral elements. Each varietal was matured separately in barrique for half a year and then merged just before bottling.
Aromas of persimmon, apricot and citrus, with honeycomb and sweet spice on the mid pallet with a long finish highlighted by moderate tannin.
